Washington S.T.E.M. We are Wiser Tigers!

Hello! I am Stephanie Harper, it is my second year at Washington Elementary S.T.E.M. School. I am currently the  librarian. Although, I am filling   the second grade vacancy  until the perfect teacher is found.  I am enjoying teaching second grade  and the kids are precious. I am certified to teach grades 1-8 and I received my National Board Certification in Literacy in 2005 and renewed in 2015. This class has a special place in my heart and I intend to make sure the students in room 16 receive the best education possible even after I return to the  library

We will begin PARCC testing  on Monday, March 16th.

For more information about PARCC, you can access the PARCC website at: http://www.parcconline.org/

Helpful hints for preparing students for testing:

  • Make sure your student gets a good night’s sleep. Studies show that students who receive a full nights rest (recommended 10 hours for elementary aged children) will help students work at full capacity and reduce test anxiety.
  • Make sure your student eats breakfast at home, or is in time to have breakfast at school. A healthy breakfast will help students ability to focus on necessary tasks instead of being hungry.
  • Encourage your student! Staying calm and positive will help your student stay calm and positive. Students put enough pressure on themselves to succeed. Let your student know that you support them and you believe in their abilities.

We will be testing in the mornings, and students will only take one test per day. If your child requires glasses to read, please make sure they have them on testing days.  Students should bring school bags to school. We will resume regular instruction after the PARCC assessment in the morning.

I understand the anxiety test time brings. I would like to say “thank you” again for your continued support at home in preparing for next week, and making the testing as “anxiety” free as possible. If we work together, students will be able to do their best.

Thank you for your support,

Ms. HarperPARCC_logo_purple
